Telehealth Appointments – See your dietitian without leaving home

What is Telehealth?

Telehealth is the use of videoconferencing (in this case Skype) for an appointment with your dietitian when you are unable to attend in person. This may be due to living rurally or interstate, or simply due to inability to travel to our clinic locations.

What happens at a Telehealth Appointment?

A Telehealth appointment works just like a normal appointment at Child Nutrition except you and your child will meet with a dietitian via a videolink. The only difference is that if any information is required, such as your child’s height or weight, this will need to be provided by you.

Are Telehealth appointments secure?

Skype to Skype voice, video, file transfers and instant messages are encrypted and as such, your Telehealth appointment is secure and your confidentiality is maintained as it would be during an in-person appointment.

What is the cost of Telehealth appointments?

Telehealth appointment costs are the same as in-person consultation costs.

Payment details may be required to be collected prior to your Telehealth appointment, or you may choose to provide them at the end of your session with the dietitian.

Unfortunately, Enhanced Primary Care Plan holders are unable to make a claim through Medicare for Telehealth appointments with a dietitian but many private health providers will still provide you a rebate for this type of consultation.

How can you best prepare for your Telehealth Appointment?

  • As soon as you make your appointment with Child Nutrition, please add us to your Skype account as a contact. Our username is child.nutrition
  • If relevant, please email any test results, growth records or food diary through to us at least 24 hours prior to your appointment time to enable your dietitian to have them on hand from the beginning of your session rather than trying to email them through once the consultation has already begun. Our email address is: info@childnutrition.com.au

I don't have a Skype account, what should I do?

In order to have a Telehealth appointment, you will require a Skype account. For more information, please see the Skype website.
